Search the Hill City Court Docket
A Hill City ticket tells you where to begin. The citation itself names the court and prints the due date, so read it first. The official Hill City Municipal Court page gives you the city court contact route. It offers no searchable grid of city cases. If the date, appearance duty, payment status, or record route is unclear, call the municipal court and ask.
- Read the citation and confirm it names Hill City Municipal Court.
- Note the citation number, violation date, court date, and response deadline.
- Check the official city page or calendar for current public information.
- Call 785-421-3638 if a case result or appearance detail is unclear.
- Use the state payment center only when the ticket supports that route.
- Ask the city court custodian for a docket event, disposition, or certified copy.
A state case takes a different path. If the paper names Graham County District Court, skip the municipal route entirely. Search the Kansas Public Access Portal under District and Graham County, or reach the District Court clerk at the courthouse.
Hill City Court Docket History
Hill City is Graham County's county seat and largest incorporated place. The 2020 Census counted 1,403 residents. County history records Millbrook as the first seat. A tornado destroyed it on August 4, 1887. The seat then moved to Hill City on March 10, 1888. J.R. Pomeroy donated most of the courthouse tract, land county history says still serves the public.
That past explains a present puzzle: two courts share one town but keep separate dockets. Graham County District Court sits in the county courthouse. The address is 410 N. Pomeroy Avenue, Suite 9. Hill City Municipal Court works through the city office at 205 N. Pomeroy Avenue. So a Hill City search must match the court level, not just the town name.
The Hill City Municipal Court
Hill City Municipal Court handles city ordinance matters. Kansas municipal jurisdiction law also lets it hear certain ordinance equivalents within statutory limits. The city contact page lists Tony Haffner as municipal judge. It also names Aphton Griffey as City Clerk and Municipal Court Clerk. Jill Elliott serves as city attorney. Roles change, so verify each name before a filing or visit.
Hill City Municipal Court
205 N. Pomeroy Avenue
Hill City, KS 67642
Court: 785-421-3638
City Clerk: 785-421-3438
Hours: Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The municipal page is a contact and document page, not a full docket viewer. Posted office hours do not amount to a recurring court session. And a city clerk listing does not mean every court document is on hand at once.
Hill City Court Docket Paths
One town, two dockets. Hill City holds the municipal venue and Graham County District Court, and each keeps its own jurisdiction, clerk, search path, and records. A city police ordinance ticket starts in municipal court. A Kansas felony or other state charge filed in District Court belongs to the Clerk of the District Court. Municipal appeals can move to the District Court route under Kansas law, but that transfer never merges the original city docket with state CaseSearch.

Hill City Court Dates and Settings
The Hill City home page has carried municipal-court calendar entries. It lists dates in May and June 2026. Those listings are time-sensitive. They prove no permanent monthly schedule. For a specific municipal setting, trust the citation or a later city notice. If a time, room, or appearance method is missing, call the court.
| Court | Confirm Hill City Municipal Court, not Graham County District Court. |
|---|---|
| Date | Use the ticket or newest official notice. |
| Time | Verify directly if the calendar entry lacks a time. |
| Appearance | Ask whether payment, counsel, or city attorney action changes it. |
| Status | Confirm any reset, dismissal, or payment posting with the court. |
District Court dates follow a different chain: a signed Notice of Hearing, current public Case Events, the courthouse terminal, and the District Court clerk. A city calendar entry is never a Graham District Court calendar.
Hill City Court Calendar Limits
A calendar event only announces a session or public event. It does not show every party, filing, plea, or outcome. Hill City offers no official municipal case-number search with event histories. When an item is missing, the page may have changed. The matter may not be public. Or you may be looking at the wrong court.
Verify first: Call 785-421-3638 before travel when the citation and current city calendar do not agree.
Request a public docket copy from the municipal office that keeps it. Give the citation number, violation date, court date, and the exact item you need. For a state case, the Graham District Court clerk and state portal are the right routes instead.
Hill City Traffic Tickets
A Hill City citation should state the court and the date. It should also say what to pay or when to appear. The Kansas Courts Central Payment Center can find an eligible payable violation by citation or case number and date of birth. It can also search by driver license and state. Or use a name and date of birth. A match is payment data only, not the full Hill City docket.
Check the court and violation before paying. Review the amount and any final-screen charge, then save the receipt. Paying does not prove an appearance was excused or that the city docket has updated. The county-wide Traffic Court Records page covers payment fields and record distinctions in more depth.
To contest the citation or enter a plea, contact Hill City before the ticket date. The same goes for diversion questions. Do not pay and assume a right to contest still stands.
Hill City Court Diversion Process
Hill City posts a diversion application with an effective date of September 14, 2021. The rules are simple on paper. The application must reach the city attorney before the court date. Only that office can excuse an applicant from appearing. Miss the terms and the document allows denial or added consequences. Complete the six-month period successfully, though, and dismissal follows. Treat the form as process evidence rather than a promise. Eligibility, terms, costs, and the current version can all change. Before relying on it, call the city attorney or the municipal court. One more limit matters. This is Hill City procedure only. It sets no diversion rule for Bogue, Morland, or Graham County District Court.
The city's own page ties the application to the municipal process and its current contact route.
Where Hill City Cases End Up
Which court is named at filing decides the first docket. A Hill City ordinance matter stays in Hill City Municipal Court. Only a later lawful step moves it. An appeal from the city goes down the Graham County District Court route. State felony and other District Court matters start with Graham County. They do not start in the city court. Anything federal belongs to the District of Kansas.
Don't default to the state portal for every city ticket. By the same token, a District Court case isn't the municipal court's business just because the courthouse sits in Hill City. The court line on the paper controls routing.
Hill City Court Docket by Numbers
The official FY2024 municipal report gives Hill City 80 filings in its row: 59 traffic and 21 other crimes under the report headings. The FY2023 report shows 104 total. That year breaks down as 90 other traffic, three tobacco, and 11 other crimes. Those are aggregate period counts, not current open cases.
Report headers and categories shift from year to year. So the totals can't predict one person's Hill City docket. What they do show is why a city-specific route matters even with the District Court close by.
Public Hill City Court Records
For a docket event, a final order, a payment record, a copy, or a certification, ask the municipal custodian. Name the court: Hill City Municipal Court. Add the citation number and violation date. Say exactly which document you need. The Kansas Open Records Act frames public access, though court rules and statutory limits still shield some material.
Access boundary: A public case entry does not make every document public, and the correct custodian must review the request.
Hill City posts no current copy or certification fee schedule. Don't borrow another district's or city's fee table. Ask the municipal custodian for a cost estimate and the current delivery options. A portal screen is not a clerk-certified judgment. Neither is a payment receipt.
Verify Hill City Court Records
Names, phone numbers, and hours at Hill City offices shift over time. Everything listed above was current on August 24, 2026. Confirm before you drive there or mail a filing. City Hall posts no searchable municipal case grid, and no photo of the building is offered here. So double-check with staff directly.
When a Hill City docket search comes up empty, look at the citation itself. It should name the court and carry a number. Call the municipal line next. If a Graham County District Court search stalls instead, use the public terminal at the courthouse or ask the District Court clerk. Those two routes keep city records at city level while state records stay within reach.
Any records request to Hill City should be narrow. Say exactly what you want: a public Case Event, a final disposition, a payment record, or a certified order. Add the city citation number and its date. Vague asks mean more staff time. Copy fees and delivery options are not posted in the city sources, so ask the municipal custodian for the current charges.
